This calcite stalactite once grew down from a cave ceiling, and a flat cut base now lets it stand upright on a shelf.
It is a large natural formation, and the full calcite cluster gives it plenty of depth when seen from the side. It suits an office bookcase, a study or a living room shelf where people will lean in for a closer look. Geology fans, cave explorers and anyone who prefers raw mineral shapes over polished towers will appreciate it.
Stalactites form in caves as mineral rich water drips from the ceiling and leaves calcium carbonate behind, layer after layer, so a slice through one shows concentric growth rings. Limestone cave formations grow very slowly, possibly over thousands of years. Calcite is calcium carbonate, only 3 on the Mohs scale, and it scratches easily.
Stone Meaning: Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and balance.
