Two round stalactite eyes sit on top of this amethyst cluster, and they are the first thing anyone notices about it.
Those eyes are what make the piece: each shows the core a stalactite formed around, ringed by purple crystal, and together they give the cluster an expressive character that people tend to stop and look at. Around them the amethyst points form a full crystal surface. It is a manageable size for a desk or nightstand, and an easy way to own a stalactite formation without making room for a large specimen. Give it to a mineral lover, or keep it as the oddity of your own collection.
Amethyst stalactites form inside geodes in volcanic basalt, where layers of chalcedony and amethyst build up around a central core as mineral rich water drips through the cavity. Mines near Artigas, Uruguay are well known for them. Amethyst itself is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
