A slab of green quartz polished on both sides makes a better looking catchall than any ceramic dish.
It is a little smaller than a dinner plate but thick and solid, so it sits flat and stays put. The natural cracks and inclusions inside the stone are part of its character and show best with light from a window or lamp. Try it on a nightstand, a bathroom vanity or an entry table, or use it as a base for a small grouping of crystals. It is a good gift for someone who just moved, or a gardener who wants a bit of stone to match the plants.
Quartz turns green in two main ways. Prasiolite gets its color from iron within the crystal, and nearly all of it on the market is amethyst that has been heat treated, a process that began commercially in Brazil in the 1950s. Other green quartz is colored by included minerals such as chlorite or epidote.
Stone Meaning: Green quartz is traditionally associated with growth and optimism.
