Tektites began as ordinary rock that a meteorite impact melted, flung into the air and cooled into these glassy pieces.
Share them with students of geology, add a few to a meteorite or space collection, wire wrap one into a pendant, or keep a dish of them on your desk as a conversation piece. A full pound gives plenty to sort, trade and gift.
Pieces range from about 10 to 30 millimeters, and shape, texture and size vary throughout each bag.
Tektites are gravel sized pieces of natural glass formed from rock and sediment melted and thrown out during a meteorite impact. The molten droplets cool quickly as they fall back through the atmosphere, sometimes thousands of kilometers from the crater.
Stone Meaning: Tektites are traditionally associated with connection and transformation.
