Shopping for citrine and want to know exactly what you are getting? These three hearts were cut from amethyst that was heat treated to its citrine color.

Heart A is the slim one, almost flat, and easy to tuck into an envelope with a note. Heart B is thicker and rounder, the most comfortable to hold. Heart C is the longest of the three with a more elongated outline, . Any of the three works for a November birthday, a new job or a housewarming.

About Citrine

Citrine is the yellow to brownish orange variety of quartz. Most citrine on the market is light colored amethyst that has been heat treated, much of it from eastern Brazil, and quartz with natural citrine color is seldom seen. It is a hard, durable stone and a November birthstone.

Stone Meaning: Citrine is traditionally associated with optimism and abundance.

Good to Know

  • Heat treated amethyst usually lands at the orangy brown end of citrine's range, so expect warmer tones than pale lemon yellow.
  • The treatment is done by heating amethyst in industrial ovens, which turns the purple to orange brown.
