Tilt a tiger's eye tower under a lamp and a band of silky light slides across the stone.
This one is a polished tower of Brazilian tiger's eye, cut and finished as a freestanding piece for a desk, a mantel or a shelf. The shine moves as you walk past, so it rewards a spot where you will see it from different angles. It is an easy gift for someone who prefers earthy tones to sparkle, for a promotion or for Father's Day, and it sits well beside wood and leather.
Tiger's eye is quartz grown in parallel with altered fibers of crocidolite, an amphibole, and colored mainly by iron oxide. Those parallel fibers create its moving shine, called chatoyancy, which is why it is often cut into cabochons and curved shapes. Red tiger's eye is made by gentle heating, and the blue variety is known as hawk's eye.
Stone Meaning: Tiger's eye is traditionally associated with confidence and focus.
