Keyhole Sand Dollars - Bulk Lot of 5 Natural Sand Dollars

Five natural keyhole sand dollars, each with the classic five-petal star and slotted edges that make this species so recognizable. They measure about 24 to 40 millimeters across, a handy size for crafts, jars and table displays.

Scatter them on a beach-themed mantel, glue them to wreaths, frames and ornaments, or add them to wedding place settings and party favors. Because they are real shells, each one differs slightly in size, color and pattern, which gives a mixed lot a natural, collected look. They are light and delicate, so handle them gently and store them flat.

About Keyhole Sand Dollars

Sand dollars are flat, burrowing sea urchins. What you hold is the skeleton, called a test, made of calcium carbonate plates arranged in a fivefold pattern, usually bleached white by the sun. Keyhole sand dollars have slits called lunules that help the living animal stay anchored in the sand.
