Rutilated Smoky Quartz Crystal with Inclusions - One of a Kind, 3.5 In

Rutilated smoky quartz is for anyone who wants a crystal with something going on inside.

This natural rough piece is smoky quartz threaded with rutile, a mineral that grows in fine needles which the quartz then surrounded and sealed in. It is longer and slimmer than a typical chunk, roughly 3.5 inches long, which suits a narrow shelf, a windowsill or a small specimen stand. The exterior has been left as it formed, with no cutting or polish. Mineral collectors will like it, and so will anyone who prefers darker, earthy stones to bright ones. One note: any stand in the photos is not included. The crystal in the photos is the one you will receive.

Size is about 3.5 by 1 by 2 inches, and the ruler photo shows it to scale.

About Rutilated Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz is ordinary quartz darkened to brown or gray by natural radiation acting on trace aluminum, and Brazil supplies most of the smoky quartz on the market. When it also holds needles of rutile it is sold as rutilated smoky quartz. Tourmalinated quartz is a close relative, with black tourmaline needles in place of rutile.

Stone Meaning: Rutilated quartz is traditionally associated with clarity and intention.
