Small blue druzy ovals are one of the easiest ways to add sparkle to a ring or a pair of studs.
This cabochon has a flat back for bezel settings or glue on findings, and the sparkling crystal face shows a range of blue hues across the photos, from ocean blue to deeper tones. It is a small, easy size for rings, studs and earring drops. They come from the same stock the shop uses in its own designs. Every druzy surface grows differently, so the crystal texture and shade vary slightly; the blue color comes from a titanium treatment.
Druzy is a natural coating of fine crystals that forms on the walls of a rock cavity, vein or geode. A cabochon is a stone that is shaped and polished rather than faceted, usually with a rounded front and flat back; the name comes from the Middle French caboche, meaning head. Blue druzy of this shade is made by vapor deposition, which bonds a micron thin titanium film to the crystals.
