Every polished rhyolite point carries its own map of color and texture, and this tall tower gives that pattern plenty of surface to show.
It is tall enough to stand as a centerpiece on a mantel or console, and the polish lets the markings show from every side. The back looks different from the front, so you can turn it until it suits the room. Earthy stones such as rhyolite sit well with wood furniture, plants and neutral walls. A good pick for a hiker, a geology fan or anyone who prefers pattern over sparkle.
Rhyolite is the most silica rich volcanic rock, the fine grained counterpart of granite, made mainly of quartz and alkali feldspar. The name was coined in 1860 from the Greek rhyax, a stream of lava. As it cools, rhyolite can develop flow layering and small round spherulites, textures that turn into pattern once the stone is cut and polished.
Stone Meaning: Rhyolite is traditionally associated with change and progress.
