Mexican Onyx Candle Holder

A block of banded Mexican onyx, about 4.5 by 3.25 by 1 inch, is carved with a 1.5 inch opening for a candle.

It holds a tealight or small votive, as the photos show. Set one on a mantel, dining table or desk, or give a pair as a housewarming gift.

Mexican onyx is banded calcite, a softer stone, so keep it away from water and harsh cleaners and wipe it with a dry cloth. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Each holder varies in color bands.

About Mexican Onyx

Despite the name, Mexican onyx is banded calcite rather than true onyx, which is a form of chalcedony.
