About Hemimorphite

Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate and an ore of zinc. It forms where the upper parts of sphalerite bearing ore bodies oxidize, usually as crystalline crusts and rounded or reniform masses, and less often as fan shaped crystal clusters. Its name refers to its hemimorphic crystals, whose two ends have different shapes. It comes in white, gray and blue and is about 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale.
