Sodium chloride, the compound on your dinner table, is what this halite cluster is made of: plain rock salt grown into crystals.

This freeform piece is hand sized and light, easy to fit on a desk, a bookshelf ledge or in a mineral display case. Salt crystals make a fun gift for a cook, a chemistry fan or a geology hobbyist, since everyone recognizes the material but few have seen it in crystal form. Will it melt away on a shelf? No; halite only asks to be kept dry, and a normal living room or office is fine.

About Halite

Halite is natural rock salt, sodium chloride. It forms isometric crystals, mostly cubes, that split cleanly in three directions. Pure halite is colorless or white, and impurities, inclusions and flaws in the crystal can tint it pink, blue, purple, orange or gray. It is soft, about 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale, and it dissolves in water.

Stone Meaning: Halite is traditionally associated with self love and emotional release.
