Black and reddish brown swirls run through this large mahogany obsidian point, which is partly polished to show its glassy luster and partly left natural. The base is cut flat, so it stands on its own on a desk, shelf or altar.

Choose 1 to 1.5 kilograms or 1.5 to 2 kilograms. At this size it makes a strong statement on a bookshelf, mantel or office desk, and it pairs well with warm wood decor.

Obsidian is natural glass, and broken edges can be very sharp, so handle it carefully and set it where it will not be knocked over. Dust it with a soft cloth. Each point varies in size, shape and pattern; the ruler photos show the scale.

Obsidian is natural volcanic glass that forms when lava cools too fast to crystallize. Mahogany obsidian swirls black and reddish brown glass, and like all obsidian it breaks with a curved, conchoidal fracture that leaves sharp edges.
