Three metal tones and one sea blue stone: this finished larimar bracelet comes in gold, silver or oxidized silver tone. The larimar itself shows soft baby blue shades.
Oxidized silver tone gives the most contrast, with darker metal that makes the blue look brighter, while gold reads warm and dressy and plain silver stays crisp. The bracelet adjusts, so it fits most wrists and slips on easily. It is light on the wrist, so it is comfortable for all day wear, and the freeform stone means no two look exactly alike. Larimar is natural, so expect some variation in the size, shape and pattern of the stone you receive. A good choice for a beach wedding, a souvenir of a Caribbean trip, or anyone drawn to ocean blues.
Larimar is a blue variety of the mineral pectolite found only in the Dominican Republic, around the city of Barahona, where it occurs in volcanic andesite and basalt. Its blue comes from copper substituting for calcium in the crystal. The name dates to 1974, when Miguel Mendez combined his daughter's name, Larissa, with mar, the Spanish word for sea. It is soft for a gemstone, about 4.5 to 5 on the Mohs scale.
Stone Meaning: Larimar is traditionally associated with calm and clear communication.
