Goethite Calcite Cluster - Natural Mineral Specimen, 6.5 In

Goethite is the iron mineral behind the color of rust, and here it shares a cluster with calcite.

That combination gives the piece its earthy contrast: calcite crystals with goethite worked in among them. The photos show it from the front, back and side, so you can see how the crystals are arranged before you decide. At this size it fills a spot on a bookshelf or in a display cabinet without crowding it. It is a good fit for a mineral collector who likes iron minerals, or for anyone who prefers natural, earthy colors to bright ones.

About Goethite and Calcite

Goethite is an iron oxide hydroxide, found in yellowish to dark brown and black, named after the writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Calcite is calcium carbonate, 3 on the Mohs scale, and it breaks cleanly along three rhombohedral planes.

Stone Meaning: Goethite calcite is traditionally associated with creativity and courage.
