Each tiger's eye bead is cut with 15 faceted sides, so the golden brown bands and silky shimmer flash from every angle. Strands measure about 15 to 16.25 inches.

Choose small beads, about 5 to 7.5 millimeters with 59 to 65 per strand, or large beads, about 7.6 to 10 millimeters with 38 to 42 per strand. Use them for malas, bracelets, necklaces and earrings.

Tiger's eye is durable for everyday jewelry, and the facets give more sparkle than smooth round beads. Most strands are enough for one bracelet with beads left over, or a short necklace. Store strands flat or hanging to keep them from tangling. Each strand varies in color and shimmer.

About Tiger's Eye

Tiger's eye gets its silky shimmer, called chatoyancy, from quartz that grew in parallel with altered fibrous minerals. It has a Mohs hardness of 6.5 to 7.
