Rich blue agate slices show natural rings, each one shaped by nature into a round, oval or irregular outline. Size #4 is a large slice; the hand photo shows the scale.

Agate slices are graded by size from 000 (smallest) to 5 (largest). Size 4 slices suit coasters, large place cards and framing. They also make striking wall art, candle trays and wedding decor. Choose 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 or 100; bigger packs lower the price per slice, and wholesale orders are welcome. Slices are selected at random; hand picking is available for a small extra fee.

The blue color is dyed, which adds color without changing the stone's composition. Each slice takes the dye differently, so shade and pattern vary. The shop works with its own cutters in Brazil, so larger or custom orders can be produced on request.

About Agate

Agate is a translucent, banded variety of microcrystalline quartz, rated 7 on the Mohs scale. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside a rock cavity. Agate is slightly porous, so it takes dye well, which is how most vividly colored agate carvings and decor pieces in the trade are made.
