Large Black Tourmalinated Quartz Crystal Ball - One of a Kind, 5.5 In

Some people collect clear quartz spheres; others want the bolder look of black tourmaline inside. This large crystal ball is for the second group.

Its tourmaline needles stand out crisply against the quartz, giving it a graphic, almost sketched look. At about 5.5 inches across, it is big enough to be the main event on a coffee table, a mantel or a desk. It makes a strong gift for a collector, a goth at heart or anyone who loves black and white. This is the exact sphere shown.

The sphere is about 5.5 by 5.5 by 5.5 inches. Check the hand and measurement photos for scale. Side lighting brings the needles forward best.

About Tourmalinated Quartz

Tourmalinated quartz is quartz that grew around needles and rods of black tourmaline, the variety called schorl. It is a close cousin of rutilated quartz, which holds golden rutile needles instead, and the inclusions are what make every piece different. Both minerals are hard, and quartz takes a bright glassy polish.

Stone Meaning: Black tourmaline in quartz is traditionally associated with grounding and clarity.

Add a Sphere Stand

A sphere this size deserves a sturdy base that keeps it steady and shows it off. Browse our crystal sphere stands and holders and choose a metal or brass style sized for its diameter, or a carved wood stand for a warmer look.
