Split an ammonite in two and you see the beautiful chambered spiral of a sea creature that lived millions of years ago. Each pair here is two matching halves.

Keep one half and give the other to someone special, as a friendship, sibling or couple keepsake, or display both side by side. They are small enough for a desk, a shadow box or a curiosity cabinet, and they make a great gift for a fossil fan or a science teacher. You choose the exact pair from the photos.

Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Pairs measure about 1.5 to 1.75 inches at their longest and weigh 10 to 25 grams.

About Ammonites

Ammonites were coiled shell marine animals, cephalopods more closely related to octopus, squid and cuttlefish than to the nautilus. Their shells were divided into chambers by walls with intricate suture patterns, and they died out around the end Cretaceous extinction about 66 million years ago.

Stone Meaning: Ammonites are traditionally associated with growth and change.
