This amethyst cluster carries calcite among its purple points and comes with the stand pictured.
Two minerals in one specimen give it more to look at than a plain cluster, and the stand lifts it so the crystals face the room. The back, side and close up photos show how the calcite sits on the amethyst. It looks at home on a mantel, an entry table or a bookshelf, and it makes a February birthday gift with a little more interest than the usual geode piece.
Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation. Calcite, calcium carbonate, often crystallizes later in the same geode pockets, leaving calcite crystals perched on the purple points. Calcite is much softer than quartz, 3 on the Mohs scale, so those areas deserve gentler handling.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
