At the taller end of what fits on a bookshelf, this sodalite tower point gives you a slim column of blue stone with a smooth, glassy polish.
The narrow profile means it takes up little room on a crowded shelf yet still stands out. Set it near a window and the polish picks up daylight along each face. The ruler and hand photos give a good sense of its height before you decide where it goes. Pick it for a home office, a study corner, or as a thank you for a mentor.
Named for the sodium in its makeup, sodalite is a royal blue mineral first found in Greenland in 1811. It became an ornamental stone after large deposits were discovered in Ontario, Canada, in 1891, including the Princess mine near Bancroft. It seldom contains the gold pyrite flecks typical of lapis lazuli, which is one way to tell the two apart, and most sodalite fluoresces orange under ultraviolet light.
Stone Meaning: Sodalite is traditionally associated with logic and truth.
