Polished Brazilian agate slices with three drill holes open up plenty of design options. Each slice measures about 1.5 to 3 inches by 0.7 to 1.75 inches, in sizes #000 and #00, with its own banding and translucent glow.
Choose pink, purple, natural, green, blue, teal or black, in packs of 1, 3 or 5. The extra holes make these ideal for connecting components, hanging charms below a pendant, building wind chimes and suncatchers, and mixed-media crafts. Hold one up to a window and the bands light up.
Agate is a translucent, banded variety of microcrystalline quartz, rated 7 on the Mohs scale. Its bands form as silica is deposited layer by layer inside a rock cavity. Agate is slightly porous, so it takes dye well, which is how most vividly colored agate carvings and decor pieces in the trade are made, while natural agate shows grays, tans and creams.
Why three holes? They let you connect components or hang charms below the slice.
Are the colors natural? Colored agate is typically dyed; natural is undyed.
Can I pick the size? Slices are sizes #000 and #00; exact size varies.
