Spin this sphere slowly and you travel from smooth agate bands to sparkling amethyst crystal and back again, all polished into one smooth sphere.
The contrast between smooth agate and glittering crystal adds depth to any room, from an office shelf to a meditation corner, and it looks especially good in side light. It is a meaningful gift for a February birthday or a friend who loves unusual stones. This is the exact sphere shown.
The sphere is about 2.825 by 3 by 3 inches. Stand not included. At about 3 inches it is large enough to display on its own yet still comfortable to hold. Look through the photos to see where the agate bands give way to crystal. If you like stones that change as you turn them, this is a sphere you will enjoy picking up again and again.
Agate amethyst forms inside volcanic geodes, where bands of microcrystalline agate are laid down first and purple amethyst crystals grow in the remaining space. Polishing across both shows smooth banding next to sparkling crystal pockets.
Stone Meaning: Agate amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
A stand keeps a sphere from rolling and lifts it into view, so it looks finished on a shelf, desk or altar. Pick one from our crystal sphere stands and holders, with carved wood, brass, metal and clear acrylic styles. Check the stand size against the sphere diameter for a secure fit.
