Thumbnail and miniature collectors, or anyone with a small display shelf, will find this vanadinite specimen easy to fit.
This slim cluster has vanadinite crystals glistening along the top and front, over a heavy amount of barite on the main face, so you still get the two mineral contrast that makes vanadinite on barite so recognizable. At about 135 grams it is easy to place on a desk, a windowsill shelf or in a small display case. It makes a thoughtful gift for a new mineral collector or a science lover. This is the exact vanadinite cluster shown.
The cluster is about 3 by 1 by 1.5 inches and weighs about 0.135 kilograms.
Vanadinite is lead chlorovanadate, roughly 73 percent lead, and an ore of vanadium. It usually forms short red, orange red or brown hexagonal prisms. Barite, barium sulfate, is a common companion mineral; it is unusually heavy for a nonmetallic mineral, and its name comes from the Greek word for heavy. Both are soft, about 2.5 to 4 on the Mohs scale.
Stone Meaning: Vanadinite is traditionally associated with motivation and focus.
