A pound of small rainbow fluorite chips in green, purple and blue, each about 5 to 8 millimeters; the quarter photo shows the scale.
Fill vases and candle holders, top off plant pots, embed them in resin or orgonite, or use them in mosaics and wire wrapping. The mix of colors makes a cheerful display in a clear jar or terrarium, and a layer of chips under a larger crystal makes a simple base for a small grid.
Fluorite is soft and can chip, and its colors can fade in strong, long sunlight, so keep displays out of direct sun. Keep small chips away from young children and pets. Colors vary by bag.
Fluorite is calcium fluoride and defines 4 on the Mohs hardness scale. It is typically purple, green and yellow, also colorless and blue, and many specimens glow blue-violet under UV light.
