A raw cluster of star mica, packed with layered, silvery flakes that sparkle as you turn it. Pieces measure about 1 to 2.25 inches by 0.75 to 1.75 inches.
Add it to a mineral collection, set it on a windowsill, or use it in crafts and resin.
Mica is soft and peels into thin sheets, so handle it gently and keep it dry. Small flakes can come loose. Each piece varies in size and shape; the hand photo shows the scale.
Star mica is a form of muscovite, the most common mica. Its perfect cleavage lets it peel into very thin, flexible sheets with a pearly to silky shine.
