About Pink Tourmaline
Tourmaline is a large group of boron silicate minerals, and manganese is what produces its pinks and reds. Elbaite, the lithium bearing species, is behind many of the colored varieties. Tourmaline crystals grow as long prisms, usually triangular in cross section with lengthwise striations, and tourmaline is an October birthstone and the gem for the eighth anniversary.
