One solid piece of pink tourmaline can be the focus of a mantel or entry table.
This large polished point is about 7 inches tall and 5 inches wide, with pink tourmaline crystals held in matrix, and the 3 inch depth keeps it fairly slim front to back, so it can sit against a wall or at the back of a shelf. Tourmaline crystals grow as long, striated prisms, often triangular in cross section, and in matrix you can see how they lie within the rock. Pink tourmaline is an October birthstone and the eighth anniversary gem, so it is a fitting present for either occasion, or for yourself. The tourmaline in the photos is the one you will receive.
Measurements: about 7 inches by 5 inches by 3 inches. Scale is easy to judge from the ruler photo.
Tourmaline is a large group of boron silicate minerals, and manganese is what produces its pinks and reds. Elbaite, the lithium bearing species, is behind many of the colored varieties. Tourmaline crystals grow as long prisms, usually triangular in cross section with lengthwise striations, and tourmaline is an October birthstone and the gem for the eighth anniversary.
Stone Meaning: Pink tourmaline is traditionally associated with love and compassion.
