Epidote is the dark green mineral collectors look for in metamorphic rock, and here it fills a solid chunk of quartz from corner to corner.
The epidote crystals push out from every side of the quartz base, so there is no back to hide; every angle in the photos has something going on. The contrast between pale quartz and dark green epidote makes it easy to read from across a room. It suits a growing mineral collection, a study shelf, or a gift for anyone with an interest in geology. Epidote is also known as pistacite, a nod to its pistachio green.
Epidote is a calcium aluminum iron silicate, typically pistachio to yellowish green and sometimes nearly black. It forms in metamorphic rocks and through hydrothermal alteration, and it often grows together with quartz; a rock made of the two is called epidosite. Its name comes from the Greek epidosis, addition, because one side of its prism is longer than the other.
Stone Meaning: Epidote is traditionally associated with growth and confidence.
