If you want a desert rose that holds its own on a tabletop, start here. Formed in the Sahara of Morocco, each cluster is made of barite rosettes that grew around grains of sand, and the largest stretches 12.5 inches.
A specimen this size commands a room, whether it sits on a console table, a mantel or a display pedestal. It is a collector's showpiece and a memorable gift for a new home, an office opening or anyone who loves the desert.
Each numbered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Cluster 1 is about 8.25 by 6.75 by 4.6 inches and 4 pounds; cluster 2 about 10 by 6.5 by 8.5 inches and 9 pounds 15 ounces; cluster 3 about 12.5 by 8 by 6.25 inches and 8 pounds 10 ounces.
Desert rose is a rosette of gypsum or barite crystals that includes sand grains, forming in arid, sandy places. Barite is barium sulfate, unusually heavy for a nonmetallic mineral, with a name from the Greek for heavy. It is soft, with a hardness of 2.5 to 3.5.
Stone Meaning: Desert rose is traditionally associated with resilience.
