Crackle quartz is quartz full of tiny internal fractures, and they turn ordinary light into glitter.
This polished point is short and broad, a little wider than it is tall, and the cut base lets it stand steady on a desk, a windowsill or a small altar. Put it where sun or a lamp can reach it and the fractures inside flash and shimmer while the outside stays smooth to the touch. The crackle is a treatment, explained below, but the stone itself is still genuine quartz. It is an easy gift for someone starting a quartz collection who wants more sparkle than a plain clear point gives.
Crackle quartz is made by heating quartz and plunging it into cold water, which creates a network of internal fractures without breaking the stone apart. The fractures scatter light for a frosted, glittering look sometimes called fire and ice quartz. Quartz itself is silicon dioxide, hard and resistant to weathering.
Stone Meaning: Clear quartz is traditionally associated with clarity and focus.
