This yellow calcite cluster grew in a stalagmite mine in Yunnan, China, and every point on it is covered in its own small crystals.
The result is a scaly, layered texture: many short points rising from the base, each coated with tiny crystals that catch the light. It is a compact piece, roughly the size of a grapefruit, but with far more surface detail than a smooth stalagmite slice. Place it under a lamp or near a window and the yellow comes alive across all those faces. It suits a mineral collector who likes cave formations, or anyone looking for a yellow calcite cluster with real texture.
Stalagmites rise from a cave floor as minerals precipitate from water dripping from the ceiling, and most are calcium carbonate, the mineral calcite. They grow very slowly, over thousands of years. Calcite is soft, 3 on the Mohs scale, and fizzes in dilute acid.
Stone Meaning: Calcite is traditionally associated with clarity and renewal.
