DOOAK-S30-12
This cut base piece brings three materials together: gray agate at the tip, light amethyst through the center and clear quartz along the edges.
Look closely at the front and you will find specks of calcite resting on the crystal, while the back shows hues of blue and gray agate. That mix gives it more variety than a plain amethyst point, and the cut base lets it stand on its own on a desk or bookshelf. Give it for a February birthday or to anyone who likes a crystal with a story told in layers.
Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation. Calcite, calcium carbonate, often crystallizes later in the same geode pockets, leaving calcite crystals perched on the purple points. Calcite is much softer than quartz, 3 on the Mohs scale, so those areas deserve gentler handling.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
