The large stalactite flower is the reason to choose this amethyst cluster on its wooden base.
Amethyst stalactites form when mineral rich water drips inside a geode, and when one is cut, the rings of growth open into a flower shaped pattern surrounded by crystal. Here that flower is the focal point of a tall cluster, about 11.25 inches, set on a wooden base. The back of the piece is left raw and natural, and the photos show it alongside the front, the flower close up and a hand for scale. It would look right on a mantel or an entry table, and it is a meaningful gift for someone who already has a plain cluster and wants a piece with a story in its structure. The cluster in these photos is the one you will receive.
It stands about 11.25 inches tall, with a width of about 7.75 inches and a depth of about 4.825 inches. Check the ruler photo for scale.
Amethyst stalactites form inside geodes in volcanic basalt, where mineral rich water drips and deposits layer after layer around a core. Cut across, they show concentric growth rings of chalcedony and amethyst, and they are well known from mines near Artigas, Uruguay.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
