Few amethyst clusters come with a second mineral sitting on top. Here, small sugary calcite druzy formations dot the upper surface of a wide amethyst cluster set on a wooden base.
That contrast defines this piece: purple points below, sugary druzy above, and a wooden base underneath. At nearly fifteen inches long it is a true table setting size, the sort of centerpiece that works down the middle of a dining table, on a sideboard or in a lobby. If you are buying for someone who already owns a few smaller clusters, this is a clear step up in scale. You get this exact cluster.
It is about 14.75 inches long, 8.75 inches deep and 5.5 inches tall. Ruler and hand photos show the scale.
Amethyst is purple quartz colored by trace iron and natural radiation. Calcite, calcium carbonate, often crystallizes later in the same geode pockets, leaving calcite crystals perched on the purple points. Calcite is much softer than quartz, 3 on the Mohs scale, so those areas deserve gentler handling.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
