Part polished, part natural, this amethyst agate cluster point shows two sides of the same stone.
The purple crystal point has been polished, while the rest of the piece is left natural and unpolished, so you can see the raw cluster texture right next to the finished face. Amethyst and agate are both quartz: amethyst is the purple crystalline variety, and agate is banded microcrystalline quartz that builds up in layers inside rock cavities. At about 4.5 inches long and 3 inches wide and deep, it has a solid, chunky footprint for a nightstand, a desk or a bookshelf. Amethyst is the February birthstone, so it works for a birthday as easily as for your own collection. You will receive this exact amethyst point.
The piece is about 4.5 by 3 by 3 inches. A ruler photo is included.
Amethyst is the purple variety of quartz, colored by trace iron exposed to natural radiation, and it is the modern birthstone for February. Agate is a translucent, banded form of microcrystalline quartz whose layers form as silica is deposited inside rock cavities. Both are hard and take a bright polish.
Stone Meaning: Amethyst is traditionally associated with calm and balance.
