Cut bases are usually straight; this sodalite one twists.
A member of our team cut and polished it with a twist along its length, so the faces turn as your eye moves up the piece and the polish picks out the markings in the stone. The flat base keeps it standing on a desk, a windowsill or a small altar, and the slim profile tucks into tight spaces. It is a fun alternative to a standard tower for a sodalite fan, and a good small gift for someone who likes carved stones.
Sodalite is a royal blue mineral, commonly veined with white, named for the sodium in its chemistry. It was first described from Greenland in 1811 and became an ornamental stone after large deposits were found in Ontario, Canada, in 1891. Unlike lapis lazuli it seldom contains pyrite, and its blue sits closer to royal blue than ultramarine.
Stone Meaning: Sodalite is traditionally associated with clear thinking and communication.
