Why let a bar of soap sit in plastic? This polished sodalite soap dish gives a sink, a bath tray or a vanity something blue and solid to look at.
It is sized for a standard bar, and it works just as well as a ring dish on a dresser or a catchall for keys by the door. Sodalite runs from royal blue to darker navy, so the exact shading and any lighter markings belong to this one dish. It is an easy housewarming present that people actually use every day, and it pairs well with white tile, wood and brass fixtures.
About Sodalite
Sodalite is a royal blue mineral named for its sodium content, first found in 1811 in Greenland. It became an ornamental stone after large deposits were discovered in Ontario, Canada, in 1891, including the Princess mine near Bancroft. It seldom contains the gold pyrite flecks typical of lapis lazuli, which is one way to tell the two apart, and most sodalite fluoresces orange under ultraviolet light.
Stone Meaning: Sodalite is traditionally associated with logic and truth.
Good to Know
- Tip out standing water after use and let the dish dry; soap film wipes off with warm water and a soft cloth.
- Acidic or abrasive bathroom cleaners can dull the polish over time, so mild soap is the better choice.
