This large, raw piece of A grade sodalite shows vibrant blue mixed with black and white veins. It measures about 3.5 by 2.75 inches to 3.75 by 3 inches.
Display it on a shelf or desk, add it to a rock collection, use it for lapidary and cabbing, or give it to a blue stone lover. Its rough, natural surface contrasts nicely with polished pieces in a display.
Sodalite is a little softer than quartz, rated 5.5 to 6, and many specimens glow orange under UV light. Raw edges can be sharp. Each piece varies in size, shape and color; the hand photo shows the scale.
