You can set a bar of soap, a pair of earrings or a few tumbled stones in this slim sodalite dish and it still looks neat.
Its low profile means it slides onto a crowded vanity or a shelf without taking over. The blue is deep and the white veins run across the polished surface in a pattern only this dish has. It works by the sink, on a dresser as a jewelry catch or by the door for keys. As a gift it is useful and easy to wrap.
Sodalite is a royal blue mineral, usually veined with white, named for the sodium in its makeup. It was first described in 1811 from the Ilimaussaq complex in Greenland and became an ornamental stone after large deposits turned up near Bancroft, Ontario, in 1891. Unlike lapis lazuli, it seldom carries gold flecks of pyrite, and most sodalite glows orange under UV light.
Stone Meaning: Sodalite is traditionally associated with logic and clear communication.
