Crisp and cool on an entry table or a desk, this sodalite bowl shows royal blue stone veined with white.
It is semi polished, with smooth surfaces that let the blue and white pattern show clearly, and the shape is shallow enough to drop keys into when you come home or to hold rings and bracelets overnight. Because it is carved from a single piece of natural stone, the veining is entirely its own. It makes a good housewarming gift, especially for someone whose home leans toward blue tones.
Sodalite is a royal blue feldspathoid mineral named for its sodium content, commonly veined with white. It was first described in 1811 from Greenland and became an ornamental stone after large deposits were found near Bancroft, Ontario, in 1891. Unlike lapis lazuli, it seldom contains pyrite and leaves a white streak.
Stone Meaning: Sodalite is traditionally associated with logic and communication.
