Ever turned a stone under a lamp and watched it sparkle green? That is fuchsite, and the chrome mica that gives it its color is what makes this sphere shimmer.
Its shades of green, from medium to pale, look fresh beside houseplants, natural wood and white decor. At about 2.5 inches across, it fits comfortably in the hand and on a small stand on a desk, nightstand or altar. Fuchsite is a soft stone with a soft look, a gentle gift for a gardener, a friend who loves green or a collector of unusual spheres. This is the exact sphere shown.
The sphere is about 2.5 by 2.5 by 2.5 inches. Turn it under a lamp to see the sparkle move.
About Fuchsite
Fuchsite is a chromium rich variety of muscovite mica, named after the German mineralogist Johann Nepomuk von Fuchs. Chromium gives it its green color and sparkle. It is very soft, about 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale, so it is a stone for display rather than heavy handling.
Stone Meaning: Fuchsite is traditionally associated with compassion and renewal.
Add a Sphere Stand
- A stand keeps a sphere from rolling and lifts it into view, so it looks finished on a shelf, desk or altar. Pick one from our crystal sphere stands and holders, with carved wood, brass, metal and clear acrylic styles. Check the stand size against the sphere diameter for a secure fit.
