Under a lamp, fuchsite shimmers across its whole surface, and a thick freeform gives that shimmer plenty of room.
Fuchsite is also called chrome mica, and its greens run from medium to pale. Up close, the sparkle comes from countless tiny flakes of mica. It is a chunky, heavy rough stone, so it sits steady on a shelf or a desk and fills a corner of a bookcase without looking lost. Put it near a window or under a lamp to get the most glitter out of it. It suits anyone who likes raw minerals over polished shapes, or a gardener who wants something green indoors that needs no watering.
Fuchsite is a chromium rich variety of muscovite mica, and the chromium is what gives it its green color and sparkle. Like other micas it is built from thin sheets that split apart easily, and it is very soft, about 2 to 2.5 on the Mohs scale, so it is a display stone rather than a hard wearing one.
Stone Meaning: Fuchsite is traditionally associated with renewal and compassion.
