About Black Onyx

True onyx is banded chalcedony, a form of agate with a hardness of 6.5 to 7. Most black onyx on the market is chalcedony that has been color treated to get its even, deep black. Abalone inlay is the iridescent nacre, or mother of pearl, from abalone shells.

Symbolism: Frogs are traditionally associated with luck and transformation.
