Lilac stone flecked with golden mica: this rough lepidolite flashes whenever it turns toward a window.
It is a raw piece, unpolished, so the shimmer you see is the mineral's own: lepidolite in light purple shades with muscovite mica flakes catching light at different angles. It fills a palm, which makes it easy to pick up and look at closely, and it sits well in a mineral drawer, on a windowsill or in a small display beside quartz. Lepidolite is one of the classic mica minerals, so it suits a beginning collector who wants something that looks and feels different from polished stones, or a friend who likes soft purples.
Lepidolite is a lithium bearing mica and the most common lithium mineral, colored lilac to pink purple by trace manganese. It forms in granite pegmatites alongside quartz, feldspar and tourmaline. Muscovite is the most common mica, and its thin, flexible sheets give a pearly to silky shine. Both are soft, around 2 to 3 on the Mohs scale, which is why rough pieces flake.
Stone Meaning: Lepidolite is traditionally associated with calm and transition.
