Yooperlite Polished Crystal Point - UV Reactive

In daylight this polished yooperlite point looks like an ordinary stone, but under ultraviolet light the sodalite inside glows with bright orange and yellow patterns. It measures about 3.5 by 0.75 by 1 inch and weighs about 80 to 95 grams.

Shine a UV flashlight on it to show friends the glow, display it with other fluorescent minerals, or give it to a curious kid or rock collector. Each point has its own colors, markings and glowing patterns.

A UV light is not included; a longwave or 365nm flashlight shows the glow best, ideally in a dark room. Sodalite is rated about 5.5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, so store the point apart from harder stones.

Yooperlite is a trade name for syenite stones that contain fluorescent sodalite. They are found mainly in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where glaciers carried them from Canada.
