One gentle strike, and the room goes quiet around a long, ringing tone. This purple singing bowl is made by artisans in India, with the phases of the moon circling its sides.

Ring it to open a meditation or yoga session, to mark the start of a quiet evening, or to clear your head between work calls. Everything comes together in a purple box, so it is ready to give as a birthday, housewarming or new beginnings gift to someone building a calm corner at home.

The bowl is about 4.125 inches across and 2.125 inches tall. It rests on a hand tied plush pillow with a satin cover, about 4 inches square, and comes with a wooden striker about 6 inches long. To play it, tap the rim lightly, or run the striker slowly around the outside edge for a sustained tone.

About Singing Bowls

A singing bowl is an inverted bell supported from below with the rim facing up. It is played by striking it with a mallet or rubbing the mallet around the rim for a sustained tone. Modern singing bowls reached the West from the 1970s, mainly from Nepal and northern India.

Symbolism: Moon phases are traditionally associated with cycles and renewal.
