These planet sized spheres of Mexican onyx are true showstoppers. Hand carved in Mexico, each has its own swirling bands of yellow, beige and brown, with a natural glitter in the rings.

One of these transforms a lobby, a living room or a meditation studio into a gallery, and it will be the first thing every visitor notices. The bottom of each sphere is cut flat, so it sits on a hard surface without rolling. Sphere A has brighter yellow hues with a bold, darker brown band around the middle; B and C have subtler yellow tones ringed with beige and brown. Each is one of a kind.

Each lettered option is pictured on its own, so the piece you see is the piece you receive. Each sphere is about 16 inches in diameter and weighs over 100 pounds.

About Mexican Onyx

Mexican onyx is not true onyx, which is a banded chalcedony. It is banded calcite, sometimes called onyx marble, a softer stone that takes a warm, waxy polish. Its bands form as mineral rich water deposits layer after layer.

Options by Letter

  • A: brighter yellow with a prominent darker brown band around the middle
  • B: subtle yellow with beige and brown rings
  • C: subtle yellow with beige and brown rings

  • You receive the exact onyx sphere you select (A, B or C).
  • Very heavy; we will contact you to arrange freight delivery. Move only with proper equipment and at least two people.
