Mined at the Diana Maria mine in England, this small fluorite cluster shows crisp green cubes that shift toward blue green in natural daylight.
That color change is a hallmark of Diana Maria fluorite, and you can test it yourself: look at the cluster on a windowsill in the morning, then again under a lamp at night. The cubic crystals are well formed and grow together in a tidy group. It fits easily in the palm, so it suits a mineral cabinet, a display case or a desk where you can pick it up and turn it in the light. For a fluorite collector, a piece from this English locality is a welcome addition, and it makes a thoughtful gift for someone just starting a mineral collection.
The Diana Maria mine is part of the Rogerley quarry in County Durham, in the historic Weardale mining district of northern England. It began as a surface operation in 2017 and moved to tunneling in 2018. Fluorite itself is calcium fluoride, 4 on the Mohs scale, and it cleaves cleanly in four directions.
Stone Meaning: Fluorite is traditionally associated with focus and clarity.
